Removal of organic paints AQ2 from the glass surface

The AQ2 range of paints, which are most commonly used to produce painted glass for glass cladding, have been developed to be very durable once dry.

However, the problem arises when you need to remove the paint from the surface afterwards for various reasons, which is why we are often asked if the already cured AQ2 paint can be removed afterwards.

And we have good news for you. You can, and how, let's show you in this guide

What we will need to remove the paint:

  • paint remover
  • a brush or roller to apply the remover
  • a scraper with a sharp razor blade
  • lye or alcohol cleaner
  • paper towels

The procedure for removing paint from glass:

First lay the glass on a soft and flat surface. Then apply the paint remover evenly to the glass with a brush or roller and leave for about 20 minutes. If the surface seems to be drying quickly, it can be moistened again by dewing or rubbing with water.

After 20 minutes, start to carefully scrape the softened paint off the glass with a scraper. We do not need to scrape off the remaining paint residues after scraping again, we just clean them with alcohol and a paper towel. Before reapplying the paint, polish the glass clean with alcohol once more.
