Chameleon colours (also referred to as chameleon effect colours or iridescent colours) are a special type of colour that changes its hue depending on the angle of view and light incidence. This visually striking effect is well known from the automotive industry, but is increasingly being used in industrial coatings and design products.
The main characteristics of chameleon paints are:
- Dynamic shade change: The colour changes depending on the angle of view - for example from purple to green.
- Multi-layered structure: usually composed of pigments that reflect light in different ways.
- Smooth transitions between multiple shades (even very contrasting ones): e.g. green → violet → gold.
- Metallic or pearlescent appearance: often glitter or metallic effects are also combined.
In which colour ranges we prepare the chameleon effect:
- HGC series - HGC 8, HGC 3, HGC 6 and HGC 8 SC (screen printing).
- AQ2 - organics for the production of painted glass
Where can you apply this effect?
- Flat glass in interiors
- Decorative glass
- Beverage glass
- Packaging glass
- Porcelain cups
The chameleon effect gives decorated objects a dynamic appearance that is constantly changing. The colours transition smoothly depending on the angle of view, and the resulting effect can be further customised - for example, by underpainting the glitter with a selected shade to harmonise with the interior.
